Statement of Faith
What we believe
The Holy Trinity
We believe that God is the Eternal King. He has always existed as the One Living and true God in three equal persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is infinite, unchangeable, and perfect in His power and glory.
Job 11:7-9 • Psalm 33:5 • Psalm 89:14 • Isaiah 44:6 • Matthew 28:19-20 • John 1:1, 14, 18 • 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 Ephesians 3:14-21
God the creator & ruler of all
We believe that the Kingdom of God is everlasting. From His throne, God upholds and governs all of His creation: the heavens, the universe, and every living thing in them. He created them and declared them good.
Genesis 1:1, 31 • Psalm 93:1-2; 104:24-29 • John 1:1-3 • 1 Corinthians 8:6 • Colossians 1:15-17 • Hebrews 1:1-3
Counterfeit Kingdom: Satan & Demonic Hosts
We believe that Satan was originally a good angel but rebelled against God. He, and a host of angels, were cast out of God’s presence, and came to establish their own kingdom of darkness & evil on the earth.
Mark 3:22-26 • Ephesians 2:1-2; 6:12 • 1 John 5:19 • Revelation 12:7-9
Creation, Fall, & Original Sin
We believe that God created male & female in His image to have a relationship with Him and govern the earth. Tempted by Satan, Adam and Eve brought God’s judgment upon mankind and we now experience the consequences. We are born in sin and subject to death and to the darkness of Satan’s kingdom.
Genesis 1:26-27; 3:1,8 • Romans 5:12, 16; 8:2-23 • 1 Corinthians 15:22 • Colossians 1:13
God’s providence & Covenants
We believe God maintains His rule through His providence & covenants. He bound Himself to Israel, delivering them from sin and blessing the nations through them. God used Moses to reveal His will and our obligation to moral responsibility. God made the covenant with David that his heir, Jesus Christ, would restore God’s Kingdom and reign as Messiah & Savior forever.
Genesis 12:2-3; 15:4-6; 17:3-8 • Deuteronomy 5:1-3; 30:15-18 • 1 Samuel 8:6-8, 21-22; 9:15-16; 10:1,24 • Psalm 25:8-10 • Isaiah 9:6-7; 11:1-5 • Jeremiah 23:5-6 • John 15:26; 16:8-11 • Romans 8:3-4, 12-17 • Galatians 3:13-14, 19-25 • Hebrews 1:3
The power of gospel
We believe that Satan dominates the entire world and that all people are sinners by nature & choice. However, through the Good News of Jesus, the kingdom of God, and the work of the Holy Spirit, God sanctifies all who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Lord & Savior.
Matthew 4:16 • Acts 26:15-18 • Romans 13:12 • Ephesians 5:8; 6:10-18 • Colossians 1:12-18 • James 4:7 • 1 Peter 5:8-11 • 1 John 1:5-7; 4:4; 5:18-19
Christ the eternal mediator & King
We believe that God sent his son, Jesus, to fulfill his covenants with His people. Fully God and human in one, Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to the Virgin Mary as an example of God’s intent for humanity. Jesus brought God’s Kingdom to earth! He overcame Satan, cast out demons, preached salvation, reconstituted God’s people as His church, and performed other miracles. In His perfection, Jesus died for the sins of the world and was raised from the dead on the third day. He sits at the right hand of the Father, advancing God’s Kingdom throughout the whole earth and every generation.
Luke 1:30-35; 2:10-11; 3:21-22; 4:1-13, 40-43 • John 1:14, 17-18 • Acts 2:24-36 • Romans 1:1-4 • Ephesians 1:19-23 • 1 Peter 2:22
The Ministry of the holy spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Church at Pentecost as a helper, teacher, and guide for becoming holy through baptism and spiritual gifts. We believe that the Holy Spirit dwells in every believer of Jesus Christ, and we are to use the gifts provided to empower, serve, and heal.
Joel 2:28-29 • John 14:12-17, 26; 16:7, 13-15 • Acts 1:8; 2:1-41; 4:31 • Romans 8:9-10, 14, 26; 12:1-6 • 1 Corinthians 6:19; 12:4-13 • Ephesians 5:18-20; 6:10-20
The scripture
We believe the original manuscripts of the Bible to be inspired by the Holy Spirit through human authors. We consider the 66 books of the Old & New Testaments as our final, absolute authority and the only infallible guide for faith and practice.
Psalm 19:7-9; 119:30, 89 • Matthew 5:17-18 • 1 Thessalonians 2:13 • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 • James 1:22-25 • Revelation 22: 18-19
The church & the kingdom
We believe in the one, holy, universal Church, composed of all who repent of their sins and confess Jesus as Lord & Savior. These believers form the living body of Christ.
Matthew 16:17-18 • Romans 12:4-5 • Ephesians 1:22; 2:19-22; 4:3-6 • 1 Timothy 3:14-15 • 2 Peter 3:18-22
Communion & Baptism
We believe that Jesus Christ gave two ordinances to the Church: water baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Both are available to all believers.
Matthew 28:19-20 • Mark 14:22-25 • John 6:51-56 • Romans 6:4-7 • 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 • Ephesians 4:4-6 • 1 Peter 3:18-22
final judgement
We believe that God’s Kingdom came with the ministry of Jesus Christ and continues through the ministry of the Spirit through the Church. Christ will return to earth to fulfill God’s Kingdom by defeating Satan, resurrecting the dead & issuing judgment. The righteous will see blessings and the wicked will see conscious punishment. God will be all in all, worshiped for eternity in the new heavens and new earth.
Matthew 25:31-46 • John 5:28-30 • 1 Corinthians 15:23-28, 51-52 • 2 Peter 3:7-13 • Revelation 20:10-15; 21:3-8
